Daniel Kahneman explains that the System 1 Automatic Brain is responsible for making the world coherent. We maintain our own model of the world and try to keep all input in line with that model.
This aligns with the understanding that The Brain is Predictive Rather Than Reactive, in order to be metabolically efficient we have to rely on our predictions of the world as much as we can and only intervene for error correction. The result of this is that Our Brains Construct Our Own Reality
