Because we know that Memory is Necessarily Forgetful, the true superpower of our memory is it's ability to only recall the information we need in the moment we need it. If we remembered everything it would be overwhelming and useless, this is why we apply Active Inhibition.

Therefore, our brain works through developing triggers for the memories that are going to serve us in that moment. If a memory is associated with the trigger of a smell or emotion, we will remember it when we experience that smell or emotion.
