Concept#note/concept
A burning plasma is a Plasma in which the fusion reactions themselves are the primary source (greater than 50%) of heating. The helium nuclei (alpha particles) which are released in the fusion reaction are the primary contributor to self-heating the plasma.
Achieving this will contribute to a significant gain in energy output which is why it is necessary to make the fusion reaction sustainable and reach Fusion Energy Gain Factor (Q Greater Than 1).
