Affective Niche

↑Stems From:

Interoceptive Predictions produce our Affect and determine what we care about in the moment, this is our affective niche.

The Brain is Predictive Rather Than Reactive, our predictions, based on our experience and concepts, determine what comes into our affective niche. This means we essentially construct our world, it's not an objective feed of input from the world but a curated stream of input we select solely to rest our predictions.

❝
Consider this: Your interceptive predictions, which produce your feelings of affect, determine what you care about in the momentβ€” your affective niche. From the perspective of your brain, anything in your affective niche could potentially influence your body budget, and nothing else in the universe matters.
